Boeing Classic & our High School Reunion

Phew! What a full day we had yesterday. We left for TPC Snoqualmie Ridge at about 8:30 am for the Boeing Classic Golf Tournament. We picked up Dick S. & Dave L. and off we went. If you are a golfer and are familiar with TPC you will know how hilly it is there. I was exhaused by the time we left at about 4:45 pm. Walk, walk, walk! Up, down, up, down. It WAS worth it.

This is the 17th hole, called On the Rock.

My favorite spot to watch from was the 14th hole which is called Bear's Canyon. It is 448 yards the long way (par 4) but I loved it when some of the guys drove it to the green over the canyon which drops 80 feet in elevation, tee to green. A gutsy play for sure! The green is pretty tiny and has a deep bunker in front of it. Sorry I didn't get a photo of it! Here are some of the names of other holes, which I found interesting: Southern Descent, The Ridge, Twin Firs, Deception, The Narrows, Screaming Eagle, Bunker Hill, Mt. Si-gh and Rat's Nest. What a perfect showcase for the Seattle area!

I did manage to snap a few photos of Tommy Armour III as he was swinging the club. He uses the stack-and-tilt method so thought I should try to capture it.

We were fortunate enough to score tickets from our financial advisor at Schwab so were able to get in for free (after paying $10 for parking and the bus ride from the parking lot) and have lunch and drinks in the Schwab Hospitality Room. Before we left the course, we went back up to the hospitality room and got to meet a couple of the players and have our photo taken with them.

Here we are with Tom Pernice, Jr.

Oh look! It's Fred Funk! One of Dave's favorite players. A genuinely nice guy and a fellow Christian to boot! That was a sneaky way for Dave L. to get in the photo!! Maybe I should photoshop him out!! Nah! Where was Dick when all this was going on?
Our 45th High School class reunion was due to begin at 5:00. After we arrived home, showered and dressed, we were only an hour and a half late! We got caught up with lots of classmates and were so tired we called it a night at about 11 pm. Here is a photo of Dave's Campbell Hill Elementary classmates.

I attended Hillcrest Elementary and our much smaller group posed for a photo as well. I don't have a copy of that yet. Out of the 800+ in our class, we must have had a couple hundred in attendance. This reunion was just a bit different than others. More of us are retired and there was way more talk of ailments. Cancer, hospitalizations, and joint replacements! I wonder what our 50th reunion will be like!

45th High School Reunion Best Ball Golf Tournament

Today was our annual golf tournament with some of our high school classmates. Out of over 800 in our graduating class from Renton High School, you might think that this is a small group! But when you think about how many want to embarrass themselves in front of their former classmates, well, I guess there are only a select few that are willing to suffer that kind of humiliation! Let me assure you that not all of those pictured below are experienced golfers! We do have fun. And since it is best ball, we aren't comparing our scores or seeing who is better than whom. That's a good thing. Here is our group posed at just before 7 am this morning at Maplewood Golf Course.

Dave and I were originally slated to play together in a foursome but our 2 team mates didn't show up. They paid their money and perhaps 7 am was just too early for them? We usually try to have one girl and 4 guys in a foursome, however, since we were "stood up" so to speak, Dave and I had to split up and fold into other 4-somes to make things work.

Here we are with our fellow players.

Tomorrow night is our 45 reunion dinner. I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone! We will likely show up a bit later than the 5 pm start time since we will be at the Champion's Tour Boeing Classic Golf event at Snoqualmie Ridge for most of the day. I can't believe that our 50th reunion is only 5 years away! Oh, and I play golf with my high school PE teacher, Miss Rogers, on Tuesdays in the Maplewood Ladies Golf Club. I hope I'm still able to golf at that age! Way to go Miss Rogers!!

Seafair and Birthdays!

What a fun day we had yesterday! We were invited to Andy & Julie Lamb's home for Seafair BBQ and to watch the Blue Angels from their back deck on Mercer Island. Great view! Our whole family was there and of course Dave & Sharron Lamb also took part. Unfortunately Zanna, Erik and kids live in Pittsburg so missed out on this reunion of sorts, and Jeff, Kim and kids were unable to attend also. When the Lambs lived in Seward Park several years back, it was a tradition to party there and we had a fantastic, close-up view of the Blue Angels performing.
Sharron has posted about the BBQ on her blog so you can go check out her excellent snaps at:

We celebrated birthdays together too. Conner Lamb turned 8, Annika Young turned 5 and Pete and Shauna Myron turned....another year older! It's not too often that a married couple share the same birthday!

Here are some of my photos:

Yup, the specks in the sky are the Blue Angels. Just wanted to capture the view from the deck.

There's Logan!

Uh, does Saben happen to have a stick in his hand?? He must be giving his friend, Connor a birthday "poke." Look at that blue angel cupcake display!

Now, Annika and Pete's faces!

Slip 'n Slide FUN

Our friendship with the Lamb family goes back to 1976.....36 years!! Almost 1/2 of my lifetime! (My goof....I'm, not 72 yet!!) Family and friends are the BEST. And we are BLESSED....more than we deserve!
