SAD AFTERNOON IN OUR COMMUNITY
Be sure to hug your loved ones
Unfortunately mid afternoon today we discovered a backup of cars trying to go out our main gate but there were police cars, yellow crime tape across the entry, fire truck, aid car and no one allowed in or out. One of our residents had walked up to the gate and shot himself in the head. I'm sure he didn't want to do this in his house, where his wife was and he likely wanted to be found quickly. He was suffering from aging issues and depression. His wife is a friend of mine and what a shocking situation. I went to visit her but obviously she is still processing everything and meeting with the police chaplain so I
was not able to stay long.
My take away from this is to remember to be sensitive to those in your life. You never know what kind of stress and emotional difficulties people are dealing with. Also, when tragedy strikes, be available to comfort and lend aid.
Here is the scene from the front patio of our home.
